Delete your DangClub account

Effective date:

You can delete your DangClub account yourself at any time inside the app. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

1. Delete it in the app

The app shows Kurdish or Arabic labels depending on your language; the Kurdish labels are given here with their meaning.

  1. Open DangClub and go to the من (Me) tab.
  2. Tap ڕێکخستنەکان (Settings).
  3. Scroll to the پاراستن (Safety) section and tap سڕینەوەی هەژمار (Delete account).
  4. Read what will happen, then tick تێدەگەم و دڵنیام (I understand and I am sure).
  5. Tap بەڵێ، بیسڕەوە (Yes, delete it).

You are logged out at once on every device. In Arabic the labels are: أنا → الإعدادات → حذف الحساب → فهمت، وأنا متأكد → نعم، احذفه.

Want a copy of your data first? Ask privacy@dangclub.com before deleting; afterwards we can no longer link anything to you.

2. What is deleted and what is kept

Erased immediately

  • Your phone number, display name, username and gender.
  • Your profile photo (the file is deleted); your cartoon character is reset to a default one.
  • The audio of every voice you sent in channels (the audio files are deleted). Your group voices are already deleted automatically 24 hours after sending; any you sent in the last 24 hours lose their audio at once.
  • Your interests, your likes and listens (counters on other people's voices are corrected), and the list of voices you hid for yourself.
  • Your memberships in channels and groups.
  • Notifications sent to you or caused by you.
  • Pending login codes for your number.
  • The IP addresses and device details stored with your sessions; you are logged out on every device.
  • Channels and groups you own are closed: nobody can open, find or join them any more.

Kept (without your identity)

  • A minimal account record: an internal ID marked “deleted”, its creation date, and your app language and notification/privacy switches. It contains no phone number, name, username, gender or photo. It exists so that conversations can show “deleted account” instead of breaking.
  • Placeholders of your voices in channels: when and where each voice was sent, its length, file size and format, and its waveform drawing (up to 64 loudness points). There is no audio; the app shows them as a deleted voice from a deleted account. They remain for as long as the channel exists. Nothing is left of your group voices once their 24 hours are up.
  • Reports you sent and reports about you or your content (reason and the optional text), and the moderators' decisions, for safety and legal purposes, for up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Blocks and bans from channels/groups involving your former account, linked only to the internal ID.
  • Session records without IP address or device details (dates only, all revoked), deleted within 30 days.
  • Closed channels and groups you owned (name, description, picture), in inactive form, visible to nobody.
  • Copies forwarded by other people: if someone used “send to another group” on one of your voices, that copy became their own message and is not deleted with your account. You can report it. Like every group voice, a copy in a group is deleted automatically 24 hours after it was sent.
  • Copies in database backups, until they are overwritten, within 7 days.

Your phone number and username become free again. If you log in later with the same number, you start a new, empty account; nothing from the old account comes back.

3. If you can no longer open the app

If you still have your phone number, the easiest way is to install DangClub again, log in with the SMS code and follow the steps above. Otherwise, ask us by email:

  1. Write to privacy@dangclub.com with the subject “Account deletion request”.
  2. Include the account's phone number in international format (for example +964 750 123 4567) and, if you know it, your username. Do not send photos of ID documents.
  3. We verify the number: our team sends a one-time verification code by SMS to that number, and you reply to our email with the code. We only ever ask for it in reply to an email from privacy@dangclub.com about your request; never give a DangClub code to anyone who asks for it anywhere else.
  4. After verification, a DangClub administrator deletes the account with exactly the same effect as deleting it in the app (section 2), and we confirm by email within 30 days.

If you lost the phone number (for example the SIM was lost or the number was cancelled), tell us in your email. We may ask for details only the owner would know, such as the username, the names of channels or groups you own, and roughly when you joined. If we can verify ownership, we delete the account, which also stops a future owner of that number from getting into it. If we cannot verify it, we cannot delete the account, to protect it from false requests.

We keep your email request and our reply as a record of the deletion for up to 12 months, then delete it.
